In which I decided to take up Ryanair on one of their many sales, and travel to Norway and back. In one day. On a flight costing 2p. Return. It was fun - though slightly hectic. Up at 7am, back by midnight, about 11 hrs of travel and 6 hours in the scenic town of Sandefjord, Norway. A short train ride away from Torp airport in the south of Norway. The Rough Guide wasn’t so useful - but I found the tourist office very helpful. Good old fashioned tourist office - that and the maps on my phone.

I checked out the interesting and somewhat graphic whaling museum in the town, had a bit of a wander up the hillside and took in the bracing (and clean) air straight across from the North Sea. Did a bit of shopping for cheese (flotemysost) and underpants (moods of Norway). Consummed a strange looking snack, Kivvik Lunsj, which turned out to be a Kit Kat. A top class meal in a quayside restaurant and then home again.

Haven’t seen any of these 1p Ryanair offers in a while but I’ll be sure to grab the next one that comes along…
