During a short late night stopover in Winnipeg, (where everything had closed except for a coffee shop). I struck up a conversation with one of my fellow train passengers. And over large cups of green tea we discussed all kinds of nonsense about pets, art, news reporting, festivals, fugitive hitch-hikers and life in general. Oh, and poker. Something which I’d learnt when I was at school (no really) but hadn’t bothered with since. So this all led to the Chalkmaster giving me a Texas Hold ‘Em 101 as the train continued it’s journey East. Maybe it’s not the best idea to tackle a whole new glossary of terms (what is a Nuts Draw again) and mathematical probability calculations at 1am, but you know, travel is supposed to broaden the mind. Right? Well, I had fun and learnt something new. So thanks Chalkmaster Dave - that might have been enough to pique my interest in poker again…
